Jennings finds new role with Bucks
The 55-point rookie sensation, Brandon Jennings, struggled with his new found fame once defenses started keying on him. His scoring and shooting percentage sank faster than a cement boat.
But as bad as Jennings was before the All-Star break, he has embraced his new role as “distributor” and the Bucks are now cranking out victories like a sausage factory in Milwaukee. After the Bucks’ most recent victory against Sacramento, not coincidentally against leading rookie of the year candidate, Tyreke Evans. As reported in Yahoo! Sports:
Jennings who has been annoyed lately concerning his absence from the Rookie of the Year discussion, downplayed the strong game versus Evans, who many see as the front-runner for the rookie honor.
“Right now it’s not about me, it’s about my teammates,” Jennings said. “Johns Salmons played today, Andrew Bogut played good today. Ersan hit some big shots. A win like this is like a playoff game. We just kept fighting.”
Jennings is keying a renaissance, along with Bogut & Salmons, in Milwuakee. His 35 point night against SacTown was the biggest offensive outpouring since his mythical 55 point night in November. For March, his offensive stats are up across the board: points, fg%, 3 pointers. And the real stat — victories — show that the Bucks have only dropped one game in March.
Though likely looking in from the outside on the ROY award to Curry & Evans, Brandon Jennings may be the only ROY to make the playoffs. And that says something about his leadership.
