Wassup, world?
Time to get serious again. That dude from Texas on my summer league basketball team is playing the 2 guard. I gotta boost my vertical or it’s time to ride the pine.
So I hit the internet, my old buddy and found 3 programs that sound like decent jump programs:
- The Jump Manual
- Power Vertical
- Double Your Vertical Leap
The prices are all over the board. Power Vertical is about 45 bucks, The Jump Manual is under 70, and Double Your Vertical Leap is just under 100. I like the sound of all of them and am pretty sure the are better than Air Alert. I talked to some friends and no one had heard of Double Your Vertical Jump. Probably because it is expensive. If I had the money, I’d probably try Double Your Vertical Leap but for now that’s out. So it really comes down to Jump Manual and Power Vertical.

Finally back to playing basketball again. It’s only like a month between the end of basketball season and summer league, but that’s too long. I’m back with my boys and we are looking to dominate.
We scrimmaged yesterday and I had a sweet drive to the rack. I did a little tear drop (Tony Parker style) over our center. Swish baby. I should have a good shot at starting at 2 guard. There’s a new kid who moved in from Texas. He is really quick and has mad hops. I’m hoping they play him at the 3 spot. Anyway, as long as I can get my shot off I’ll be fine.
I got a little distracted on my ‘Mission to Jump Higher and Improve My Vertical.’ Don’t hold it against me…I got a little burned out with Air Alert. Anyway, I’m playing again so that’s the most important.
I’ll probably start doing some jump stuff next week.

Sayonara, Air Alert!
Um, I feel like the Clippers when Baron Davis got his money and stopped playing! Hey, Air Alert is cheap but I think that’s more or less what it delivers – cheap jumping guidance. The jump program is pretty basic. I like that you don’t have to use weights. I was tired of working out with some of the meat heads.
My legs feel stronger and I have increased my vertical 2 inches in three weeks. But I don’t see anything revolutionary here. They mention something about kangaroo effect. I didn’t get that.
I had a friend who’s on my summer league basketball team talking about ‘The Jump Manual’. Some program he bought on the internet. Sounds decent but I am going to wait before I dive in again…feel a little scorched by Air Alert.

Wassup? It’s Josh again.
Finished up the basketball season. We finished a game short of the playoffs. I was frustrated that I wasn’t in the game for the last 5 minutes. The guy who took my place (a sophomore!) missed a wide open jumper that could have tied the game. Shooting the 3-ball is my specialty. But Coach likes this dude because he is 4 inches taller and can hang on the rim.
Anyway, getting benched meant it was time to try something other than the gym to improve my vertical. Read about Air Alert on the internet. Sounds pretty good. The price is really cheap — like 20 bones all in. Can’t go wrong for that price. Anyway, it is supposed to arrive on Tuesday. I like that Baron Davis and Larry Hughes are on their website. Check it out: Air Alert
Summer league is around the corner. My teammates and I are practicing after school. My buddy Jason was almost dunking yesterday. He can’t palm the basketball and I think that’s what’s keeping him from slamming. I can barely touch the rim…and only if I get a running start. But I am hoping that Air Alert is the solution. Dude, if I could learn how to dunk, that would be sick. Imagine the look on Coach’s face when I slam during the ‘layup’ drill…that would be great!

Hey, Guys. It’s Josh here. Thanks for checking out my blog.
I am on a mission to Jump Higher!
I am tired of getting my shot blocked and getting benched. It’s time to do something about it. Like a lot of you guys, I thought hitting the gym was the best way to increase my vertical. You know, popping up plates with the football dudes. It definitely works to build up my legs, but I’m not seeing the results when I drive to the hoop. I got a few inches of vertical but nothing that has me rocking the rim. I think the problem is I’m not really sure what jump exercises are right or how many reps to do. I did some research on plyometrics but don’t really understand it.
I gotta figure out something soon. We’ve only got 5 more games until the playoffs and I want to be on the court.
I’m gonna blog all my thoughts so you can see how I boost my vert. Follow along and comment.
